Storing Guacamole - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. I am going to show you how you can store your guacamole at home. So, I have made my perfect guacamole and now, I want to put it away for the night. The problem is every time you make guacamole it results in it being brown and kind of discolored and does not look as appetizing as this nice, bright green color. Here is a trick. So, take your guacamole and put it into an airtight container. I am using a Chinese food container that I got from last nights' take out and washed out. What you can do is spread that in that container and here are the two secrets. First, is I am going to use a little bit of lime juice or you can use lemon juice or any other sort of citric acid. I am going to put a little bit of that on the surface. That is going to be the first thing that is going to help my guacamole prevent becoming discolored and brown. The second thing is use a little bit of plastic wrap. I am going to take some plastic wrap and I am going to take it off and put that on before I put the lid on and Iam going to press that against the surface. That is going to help more air from reaching the surface and causing that discoloration of the avocados. Now that I have got two layers of protection on top of my guacamole, I am going to add the lid and your perfect guacamole is preserved and ready to go.
