Almost anyone can do this posture, it is very easy and it prepares the spine and the body for many other twisting postures. So come onto your knees, you can even come onto your hands and your knees at first if you need to. Bring the right foot forward so that both upper and lower legs are at a 90 degree angle. Tuck the back toes under, and from there bring the right hand to the right hip. Stretch the left arm all the way up to lengthen the left side of the body. Bring the hand across the knee and move the right shoulder all the way back. See if you can get the shoulders in line from the front to the back of the mat and your chin directly over the right shoulder. Remain there for five breaths then release. Return to the kneeling position and then practice on the other side.
