This brilliant orchestra wasn't actually a real band, but a pseudonym for the in-house band made up of Victor studio musicians. The sessions were conducted by Leonard Joy who was one of the company's music directors. Most High Hatters recordings are from the late 1920s but stil recorded a few in the early 1930s. This one is from 1931, and as upbeat and virtuosic as most of their renditions. Playwright, pianist and songwriter Frank Luther (né Francis Luther Crow, 1899-1980) also was one of the most versatile and busiest dance band vocalists and country singers ever. He never retired and his career spanned no less than 6 decades! For more details I refer to the comprehensive article on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Luther .
