How to Slice Mushrooms - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Another kitchen tip that I have for you is how to slice mushrooms. So, I have cleaned my mushroom. I do it by running it under cold water and I rub off all the dirt. And now, I have a clean mushroom and, rather than using a knife, which does not give me very even slices, I am going to use a heavy duty egg slicer. Not the plastic ones because the hinge on those is not strong enough for this trick, but the metal kind does do it nicely. So, just take my clean mushroom. We are going to put it in the egg slicer, a heavy duty egg slicer with strong hinge over here. Not the plastic kind. Put in the mushroom cap, it has been cleaned, and just push down. And then, I have got beautifully sliced mushrooms, like so. Makes a beautiful garnish on a spinach salad or you can do marinated mushroom slices. Put a little salad dressing on them. Leave them in the fridge for an hour or so. It is fabulous and perfectly cut.
