FROM MEDIACORP'S REPORT:
A Malaysian television has axed a controversial series of advertisements to mark the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Viewers had complained that the ads were offensive to non-Muslim ethnic minorities.

In one of the three 8TV ads, a Chinese girl was depicted as being obnoxious.

The ad ended with a message, urging viewers to refrain from such behaviour, which is considered inappropriate during Ramadan.

Netizens flooded the private TV station's Facebook page with angry comments.

On Tuesday night, 8TV's chief executive Ahmad Izham Omar apologised, saying that the ads will be removed.

The TV station's parent company, Media Prima, attracted flak from Muslims last year for airing a Hari Raya commercial with alleged Christmas overtones on another of their channels.
