Best Buy’s sixth corporate responsibility report is taking a different approach from previous publications. The company has released the report, titled “Our World, Connected,” as an online, interactive experience. Performance highlights reported for 2011 include the collection of 83 million pounds of consumer electronics and 73 million pounds of old appliances for recycling. Best Buy also sold more than 23 million Energy Star–qualified products, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.6 billion pounds. Ambitious future goals include recycling one billion pounds of consumer goods by year 2020. “Our World, Connected” was created using the framework of the Global Reporting Initiative.
