Pug-marks of Snow Leopard in Ladakh

2011-07-22 309

OK, we spent two months in Ladakh in the winter, and still didn't see the Snow Leopard, despite many close ones... But we did see it's pug-marks and came home happy that we made it that close! The snow leopard, Panthera uncia, is notorious]y difficult to view or study in the wild. Its natural environment is usually remote and difficult of access; its population density is very low and its territory large; it is mainly nocturnal in its habits and shy and elusive in its nature.
