These Sudanese originally came to India as labourers or salt workers, and have now become a part of their home state of Gujarat, living next to Gir National Park where the Asiatic Lion now lives (and nowhere else). The Siddhi people retain their Sudanese musical traditions, and as they rarely inter-marry, they also look very much like their Sudanese peers. Their music, however, has developed distinct Indian and Gujarati influences.
