Republic Day takes place in New Delhi, India every year on the 26th of January. Known as Chhabees January in India, it marks the day that India became a republic. The celebration is marked by large crowds, a fly-past by Indian air Force fighter jets and helicopters, tableaux from various states of India, celebrating the cultural diversity of the country. It takes place on the central esplanade before the North and South Block, and between Rashtrapati Bhawan and India Gate, on Rajpath.
