akshmi Narayana temple, Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and it was built by King Veer Singh of the Bundela dynasty in 1622. In 1793, king Prithvi Singh renovated this attractive place of worship.
One of the mightiest and most visited monuments of Orchha today, the temple resembles a fort. The temple has no proper idol or deity though there are the images of Lord Krishna and goddess Radha.
The temple is most remarkable for its exquisite murals, which are a mixture of Mughal and Bundela styles. The themes are based on Sage Valmiki’s Ramayana and Thulasidas’s Rama Charita Manas.
