You will be lying on your back and the skin over your hip will be cleaned. An incision will be made over the anterior iliac crest and the attached muscles moved to the sides. A bone block containing thick outer cortical bone and porous inner cancellous bone will be chiseled out of the iliac crest. A haemostasis pad to stop bleeding will be applied.
