Chinese Regime and North Korea Pledge to Keep Close Ties

Chinese vice-premier Zhang Dejiang wrapped up a four-day visit to North Korea on Wednesday.

He was in Pyongyang with his delegation to commemorate the 50th anniversary of a treaty of friendship between the two communist countries.

North Korea's leader Kim Jong Il, and his son Kim Jong Un pledged to maintain close relations with the Chinese regime.

The North Korean leader assured Zhang the close bond would remain unchanged for generations to come.

Kim Jong Il has visited his Chinese counterpart three times since last year. The two countries have started a joint economic venture.

The Chinese regime remains North Korea's closest ally since the Korean War in the 1950s.
