The Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association announced on Thursday that they had ordained another bishop. The association controls China's state-run Catholic church.

This is the third bishop they have ordained without the approval of the Vatican. And tensions are high between the Vatican and the Chinese regime over who has the right to appoint bishops.

An unnamed source told Reuters that eight bishops who were loyal to the Pope were forced to take part in the ceremony, and escorted there by police. The source also said four more bishops were detained when they refused to attend the ceremony.
