Tai Chi: Punch Routine - part of the women's fitness video series by GeoBeats. Hello, my name is Tiffany Chen, I am from William C. C. Chen's Tai Chi Chuan. And now I am going to share with you our punch segment. Begin by turning to your left, left foot in front, right foot behind. Eighty percent of the weight in the left leg, about twenty in the right. The left palm brushes over the knee of the left, right palm comes up in front. Now shift the weight back, drop the right hand in a fist at the groin. Now use the right leg to open up the left side so that the heel spins open on the left foot, slightly. Shift the weight into the left leg, take a half step with the right. Now, when you look down your feet should be in a “T” position, with the right foot in front of the arch of the left. Shift the weight into the right leg now and as you shift into the right leg the fist of the right and the palm of the left float up to the left shoulder. When all the weight is into the right leg the energy spirals down. You want to let that energy naturally spin forward the left side on the heel. But control it, so you are setting your left foot down on the heel and not falling into your left foot. Shift the weight into the left leg, and always sink before you energize into the next posture. And as we energize into the next posture the left hand brushes across the knee and the right hand punches out. This completes the punch segment.
