On Tuesday, hundreds of fans gathered in Beijing, China to meet with tennis player Li Na. Li won the French Open last month, becoming the first Chinese player to win a Grand Slam title.

Chinese women's tennis player Li Na returned to China to meet with hundreds of fans on July 5th, following her victory at the French Open. It's the first time Li has talked to media and fans in-person since her win.

Li is the first Grand Slam Champion from an Asian country. Her title marks China's prominence in tennis, which is usually a sport dominated by American, European and Australian athletes.

In a press conference, Li thanks her Chinese fans.

[Li Na, China's First Grand Slam Champion]:
"Thanks everyone for supporting me and endorsing my French Open title. I have been working very hard to be a champion. No matter what I achieve in the future, I will play my best out on the court."

WTA officials, leaders from Chinese General Administration of Sport, and celebrities joined hundreds of fans to celebrate Li's success. There is a possibility Li's achievements will also inspire more tennis development in China.
