Prince William and his wife Kate squared off against each other in a dragon boat race on Monday (July 4), as part of their tour of Canada.

The royal couple hopped in separate boats for the race across Dalvay Lake in eastern Canada.

The Duchess of Cambridge—wearing black athletic leggings and a windbreaker—helped steer her boat to the starting position.

Prince William, in black jeans and a denim shirt, smiled and chatted with members of his team while waiting for the race to begin.

Both royals paddled fiercely along the 200 foot (61 meter) course.

In the last stretch, the Prince's team pulled ahead, winning the race.

After thanking their team mates, the couple hug on the dock before heading off to their next event.

The royal couple are touring 7 cities in 4 provinces and 1 territory as part of their Canadian tour, before heading to California on July 8th.
