Floods Kill over 100 in Southern and Central China

The death toll from flooding in southern and central China continues to grow. Now, more than 100 people have lost their lives to the torrential downpours... and the rains are set to continue for several more days.

According to Chinese state-run media... torrential rains in central and southern China continue to trigger floods and landslides.

State-run media Xinhua also reported that by late Monday (June 13), floods across parts of 13 provinces had killed 105 people with 63 missing. The floods have also damaged dozens of square miles of crops, and toppled hundreds of houses and other buildings. It's caused millions of dollars of economic losses.

CCTV reports that more than 3,000 relocated in Jiangxi Province in southern China.

Heavy rains have turned drought-stricken areas into a picture of destruction.

[Yan Huaiza, Resident of Anfu County, Jiangxi Province]:
"The losses are very serious, everything was washed away, nothing is left."

Weather forecasters warn that heavy rains are likely to keep battering some areas through Friday.
