A global health fund has frozen payments to the Chinese regime because of mismanagement concerns.

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria stopped all payments and grants to the Chinese regime this month. It says the regime has failed to meet its conditions—including giving at least 35% of funds to grassroots organizations.

The Global Fund believes community organizations are important for helping to prevent diseases, because they can reach out to marginalized people. But the Chinese regime's mistrust of independent groups and mismanagement of the funds is neglecting its HIV strategy for the care of 740 thousand people infected with HIV in China.

So far the Global Fund has blocked $23 million U.S. dollars. If the Chinese regime does not respond to its concerns by June 7th, they will stop payments of $300 million over the next several years.
