Libyans in Benghazi welcomed Obama's speech to the Arab world as he addressed U.S. Middle East policy. Here's more.

Libyans, like many Arabs in the Middle East and North Africa, were glued to television sets on Thursday watching U.S President Barack Obama deliver his much-anticipated "Arab spring" speech.

Diners at the "Isahil Cafe" in Benghazi reacted positively to Obama's speech.

[Usama Lehdoori, Benghazi Resident]:
"The speech came as a support for the people. President Obama's speech came as support of the Arab peoples in order to open a new page of democracy and (good) treatment."

[Abdallah Miftah, Benghazi Resident]:
"Gaddafi made us hate Obama, he made us hate America. Obama is a humanitarian, he has stood with the Libyan people, he does not need anything to stand with the Libyan people, what is he lacking that he would want to take advantage of Libya? He has planes that fly by remote control."

His words dispute the Libyan government's claim that America intervened in the oil-producing country for reasons of self-interest.
