Headlines:

- After a broad sell off, the FTSE was down 1.6% or 98 points, while the Dow Jones was down 0.6% yesterday.

- Markets have recovered slightly this morning, with the FTSE currently up 23 points at 6007, breaking through the psychological level of 6000 again.

- It’s a fairly quiet trading session however, as investors are awaiting a decision from the Bank of England at 12 noon, with no change expected in interest rates.

- The European Central Bank’s rate decision will be announced at 12.45pm and again, no change is expected after the 25-basis-point rise last month.
