The offices of the Anthropological Survey of India located in Kolkata, India were destroyed by a fire on Monday night. The fire torched all the computer equipment but more importantly all their valuable data was destroyed.
A massive fire engulfed the office of the Anthropological Survey of India on Monday night. It happened in Kolkata City in India's West Bengal state.
Fire authorities say they don't know the cause of the fire yet.
[Kamalendu Banerjee, Divisional Fire Officer]:
"We have to wait for sometime to ascertain the whole thing, what were the things there what was involved and what isn't and what the cause of the fire."
Meanwhile, a member of the Anthropological Survey of India says the fire destroyed valuable data which can never be recovered.
[Susmita Battacharya, Spokesperson, Anthropological Survey of India]:
"There are very vital evidences which are very rare and which once lost would not be found again."
There's no reports of casualties.
