Manufacturing a wear sleeve on a CNC lathe

2011-04-25 1

This is the first of a series of steps by which Longevity Coatings manufactured, coated and fused a round wear sleeve with a uniform and extremely hard coating. The original material received was a cast stainless steel sleeve with a 1 ½” wall. The objective was to rough cut a blank sleeve with a ½” wall. This was accomplished by outfitting a large 4-axis CNC lathe with a 2” boring bar. Later, the sleeve was coated, ground and re-machined to precise and uniform concentric diameters (13” outside diameter, 12” inside diameter) and to a 12” length.
