South Korean environmentalists marked the 41st anniversay of Earth Day in Seoul. They formed huge letters made of gunnysacks, with the slogan "Save Earth" laid out on a field. Here's more.

South Korean environmentalists marked the 41st anniversary of Earth Day on Friday.

About a hundred activists in raincoats gathered in Seoul's City Hall Plaza despite the rainy weather and presented their go-green slogan.

The organizers made sure recycled materials were used to make the gunnysacks with the message 'Save Earth!' in huge letters laid out on a field.

[Joo Ae-ri, Environmentalist]:
"We collected used placards (from previous rallies) to make the gunnysacks and then we'll donate them. This time, we made 2011 sacks to use them for the letters (Save Earth). Then participants will (stand or lie down on each letter to) form the letters, that's my plan."

The used gunnysacks will be donated to local governments to use for garbage collection.

Some curious passers-by even stopped to join in the event.

[Lee Hyo-sook, Environmentalist]:
"It was really fun! When could I lie down on the lawn at the City Hall Plaza except at this time? I was lying down on the letter "V". I really enjoyed it. The weather wasn't good, that's regrettable. I will join the movement to save the earth."

Earth Day celebrated in 192 countries.
