Animals in one zoo in India's Maharashtra state are getting special treatment to beat the scorching heat. Zoo authorities have installed cooling systems inside their cages to protect the animals.

As the temperature rises in central India, workers at the Maharaj Baug garden and zoo of Nagpur have installed cooling systems to protect the animals from heat.

The temperature in Nagpur has touched 104 degrees Fahrenheit, which can rise to 120 degrees during May.

Authorities have installed coolers on each cage and are spraying water to help keep things cool for their furry friends.

They have also put pieces of granite on top of the cages to protect the animals from sunrays.

[S.S. Baviskar]:
"We installed these systems to make sure there is always water inside their cages, and that the temperature inside the cages always remains low. We are taking care of all of these things. We are spraying water at noon when the temperature is very high. We have also installed coolers in some places."

Zoo officials are also taking care of the animals by providing vitamin pills to help them survive in the scorching summers.
