On Wednesday, the Indian Space Research Organization launched the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) C-16 into space.
The satellite was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in India's Andhra Pradesh state. It's carrying three payloads weighing about 3,100 pounds.
The PSLV C-16 will leave all the payloads in Polar Sun Synchronous Orbit, about 500 miles above Earth.
The PSLV C-16 will put into orbit three satellites - India's ResourceSat-2, YouthSat and X-Sat from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.
YouthSat has been built by India and Russia. The satellite will be used for stellar and atmospheric studies, while the 233 pound X-Sat will be used for imaging applications.
