Japan soccer stars honour the victims of earthquake and tsunami. 40,000 tickets sold out in less than an hour with proceeds going to the quake and tsunami victims.

Japan's Blue Samurai national team, including all 12 players based in Europe, beat a J-League All-Star team 2-1 in a charity match on Tuesday to raise funds for victims of this month's deadly earthquake and tsunami.

The Japan Football Association raised about $183,000 U.S. over three days for the victims of the quake.

Kyodo news agency says 40,000 tickets for the match at Osaka's Nagai Stadium sold out in less than an hour.

One of the national team players was born in Miyagi, one of the worst affected areas.

More than 27,000 people are dead or missing from the 9.0 magnitude quake and giant tsunami waves it triggered.

The J-League All-Star team featured a number of former national team players including FC Yokohama forward Kazuyoshi Miura, at 44 the oldest player in the domestic league.

Gamba Osako, put the national team ahead with a curling free-kick, and Shinji Okazaki, of Stuttgart extended the lead from a fine pass from CSKA Moscow's Keisuke Honda.

Miura, known as King Kazu, pulled one back for the J-League in the second half.
