The 'Samurai Guitarist' Ya-miyavi-, whose real name is Takamasa Ishihara is a Japanese guitarist who with his tight-as-a-vice percussion-smashing sidekick BOBO, has created a unqiue musical flavour, which is stripped down, stoical and distilled in the influences of funk, hip-hop, rock (soft/hard) and dance. In 1999, after quitting high school at the age of 17, MIYAVI moved to Tokyo with only his guitar in hand. Not long afterwards, he joined the band Due' Le Quarts as guitarist. When the band broke up three years later Miyavi made his solo debut the very next day and has never looked back. He travelled to Los Angeles, USA to polish his language and performance skills and set about becoming an international legend.
