Indian police have detained illegal migrants from Bangladesh. The four migrants were arrested as they departed a flight at an airport in the state of Tripura.

Police in India's northeastern Tripura state were at the Agartala airport on Wednesday to arrest Bangladesh citizens illegally entering into India.

The four Bangladesh migrants have no passports and valid travel documents.

[B K Roy, Deputy Inspector]:
"We want to investigate further. So, this morning we have forwarded them to court with seven days police remand because we have to verify whether whatever they have said in their report is correct or whether they are involved in any other sort of criminal activities."

Police say the Bangladeshi nationals had entered India through Benapole and had gone to Mumbai in search of jobs.

[Norman Seikh, Illegal Immigrant]:
"I used to teach young children in a mosque for the last three and a half years. I had gone from Bangladesh without any passport or valid document."

The Bangladeshi nationals say they were returning back to their country from Agartala.
