Take a tour of Celle Palace in Celle, Germany – part of the World’s Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
The exquisite Celle Castle is the largest in the southern German state in which it is located.
The third fortification to occupy this space, the first record of the current castle was in the early 14th century.
Expansions and alterations were carried out from the castles beginnings through the 19th century, giving the structure its present grand appearance.
With its pentagonal corner towers, expansive courtyard, and four winged construction, it now stands as a classic example of a Weser Renaissance bastion.
The 17 acre park directly surrounding the structure was added in the 19th century by filling in the inner moats and adding lush trees and lawns; the outer moat which isolates it still remains.
The castle is now a museum, which displays its pristine decor and furnishings; as well as an ancient and majestic theater currently in use.
