Soundpainting in Belgium - Public Workshop

2011-03-10 2

Soundpainting is the multidisciplinary live composing sign language, created by New-York composer Walter Thompson since 1974. It allows a composer-conductor (the soundpainter), to instantly and precisely communicate with an ensemble of performers. In reaction to a sign, a performer will propose material for the composition, that the soundpainter will capture, enrich, and compose with by sending new indications. Soundpainting is a powerful tool for artistic education and performance. Its practice is opened to artists of all disciplines, all styles and levels, but also to anyone looking for a new approach of art expression … more then 1000 signs applied to music, theatre, dance and visual arts.
