Shen Yun Performing Arts played at the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt, Germany, over the weekend. For many in the audience, it was the first time they listened to artist Xiaochun Qi playing the erhu, a Chinese two-string fiddle. This is what they had to say of the experience.

[Iryna Parkhomenko, Audience Member]:

"My favorite piece was perhaps the one with the erhu. It is very touching. It was so beautiful. I have never in my life thought that one could play like that on a two stringed instrument. It is very beautiful, very beautiful."

[Richard Albrecht, Media Designer]:

"This combination of piano and erhu. And of course, also this melody gripped me in a special way. It went right to the heart. Wonderful."

[Rebecca Cornett, Audience Member]:

"Oh yes, I also liked it very much. I just closed my eyes and listened. It was very beautiful. It left such a beautiful impression - a beautiful sound."

[Claudia Knapp, Audience Member]:

"I can only agree. Usually a violin has more strings than this two-string [instrument]. And getting these kinds of sounds out of it with just a bow and one's hands - that is breathtaking."

[Regine Ehrentraut, Audience Member]:

"Er ... Erhu. Erhu, did I get it? Yes. Erhu. Fascinating, indeed. How is it possible to magically perform these melodies, these tones with two strings? Fascinating!"
