Ski instructors in France are closing ranks against a possible influx of foreign colleagues to cater to English-speaking tourists. Proposed EU legislation means that an instructor holding a relevant qualification could soon be entitled to give ski lessons anywhere in Europe. But French authorities say that will devalue the standard of national skiing qualifications, which are among the toughest anywhere.
