Woods looking to end winning drought

Tiger Woods starts the Dubai Desert Classic as world number three, behind Lee Westwood of Britain and Martin Kaymer of Germany.

Woods dominated the World Rankings for 281 weeks before being dethroned last October by Westwood, and won the Desert Classic in 2006 and 2008. But Tiger has now gone 14 months without a victory.

When asked on about his motivation, he said nothing had changed.

"If I'm in the event, it's to win. That's just plain and simple. I don't always win. I've certainly lost a lot more tournaments than I've won. It's the goal every week we tee up, and that doesn't change."

Asked about working to regain his number one status, the 14-times major winner said it was simply to win.

"I have been out here for enough, long enough now, that it's about sustainability."
