Russell Brand has been gazumped by his new wife Katy Perry's gran as her plus one at this weekend's Grammy Awards.
"My grandma who is 90 years old, she is coming with me and she is going to be my date on the red carpet because I figured if I don't win any Grammys, I still get to go home with my granny," the singer said.
Twenty-six-year-old Katy is nominated for four Grammys and will perform a medley of songs from her album, Teenage Dream, when the ceremony takes place on February 13.
The I Kissed A Girl singer has been chatting at the launch of her new perfume, Purr, in Mexico City.
"I really wanted to give my own opinion in the perfume world because I saw a lot of my own peers doing that and just like my music, I never gave up in trying to be in the music world because I felt no one was doing exactly what I was doing.
"No one was bringing my opinion or my perspective and I felt the same way with Purr."
