The bird flu continues to spread in Japan today. Now there are reports it's made its way to the country's third largest poultry producing region.
A fifth outbreak of bird flu was confirmed on a farm in Toyohashi, central Japan on Thursday, as the epidemic continues to spread across the country.
A quarantine has also been put in place around all poultry farms in the area, and roads were blocked from entering the farms.
The Japanese government has vowed to contain the epidemic.
[Hirohisa Fujii, Japan's Deputy Cabinet Spokesman]:
"We've got to get the experts together to investigate this and as we have done in the past, deal with this in every region as appropriately as possible."
Aichi prefecture is Japan's third largest producer of poultry products and is famous for its Nagoya cochin chicken - though authorities say none of the affected farms specialized in this breed.
Japan's bird flu epidemic has already hit several other regions, including the number one and two producers of poultry products.
