Commuters forced to abandon frozen cars

With parts of the Northeastern United States under a deep freeze, cars parked along New York City streets that have been found completely covered in ice.


Temperatures have been in the single digits and wind-chill factors below zero, making life difficult for commuters as they rush to get to work.


One ice-encrusted car was partially freed after being buried under a thick layer of solid ice.


Someone had braved the chill to chip and chisel the vehicle out, but unfortunately the rear window had been broken in the process.
