Britain's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan has stepped into the shoes of CNN's Larry King, interviewing Oprah Winfrey for his first Tonight show in the US.
The infamous British export questioned Winfrey on her childhood and past relationships, even delving into her private diaries which she admitted to keeping in a safety deposit box.
During the interview Oprah admitted to suicidal moments saying: "So I'm thinking well I'm just going to have to kill myself. I did stupid things like drinking detergent. All that crazy stuff you do when you're trying to get attention."
The former Daily Mirror editor was praised by critics as, "high-energy, enthusiastic, effusive, playful and fascinated".
One reviewer wrote: "Morgan asked questions he knew (Winfrey) did not wish to be asked and although she seldom answered them, he made sure she was always refusing, in the process, in spite of herself, revealing very much indeed."
The American chat show Queen even added, "You're good," when Morgan asked her how many times she had been "properly in love".
Morgan has described his new role as his, "dream job".
