The red shirts were back again on Sunday 9th January for peaceful demonstrations which took place at Democracy monument and then moved up to Ratchaprasong in Bangkok, Thailand as seen in this video. The red shirts are unhappy with the present Thai government and are waiting for new elections to take place. UDD loyalists gathered at the Democracy Monument at 3pm on Sunday to commemorate the Red Shirts who died in last year's protest, especially on May 19. The demonstrations were led by United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) chair Thida Thavornseth and Opposition MP Jatuporn Prompa. 89 people, including both security personnel and protesters, were killed and more than 1,900 were injured in clashes between the army and UDD members during April and May last year. Mrs Thida demanded the release of the prisoners, including her husband, who have been jailed for the past eight months.
