Islamic militants are responsible for the recent bomb blasts in Stockholm, Sweden. An email sent shortly before the blasts referred to Sweden's presence in Afghanistan, as well as the caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad drawn by a Swedish artist. Here's more.

On Saturday two blasts rocked central Stockholm, killing the suspected bomber and wounding two other people.

Police say they have good leads into the terror crimes.

Controversial Swedish artist Lars Vilks was named in an email sent shortly before the explosions.

Vilks is the artist responsible for the cartoon in 2007 which depicted the Prophet Mohammad with the body of a dog.

He says he was not surprised by the attacks.

[Lars Vilk, Prophet Mohammad Caricature Cartoonist]:
“It was to be expected. I mean these things are going on everywhere, of course they would arrive in Sweden sooner or later.”

Before the explosions, the Swedish news agency TT received a threatening letter about Sweden's military presence in Afghanistan, as well as the caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad drawn by Vilks.

TT said the email was also sent to the Security Police and had sound files in Swedish and Arabic.

A man is quoted as saying in one recording: "Our actions will speak for themselves, as long as you do not end your war against Islam and humiliation of the Prophet and your stupid support for the pig Vilks.”

The incident follows several nervous months in Europe after a U.S. travel alert about possible attacks by militants and a failed bid by a Yemen-based al Qaeda group to use air cargo to send parcel bombs via Europe to America.
