Russians celebrated the start of Hanukkah in Moscow, that begins at sundown. The tradition, also known as the Festival of Lights, calls for the daily lighting of a candle in the evening throughout the eight days of Hannukah; one flame the first night, the second on the second night and so on until the eighth evening, or Chanukka, when all candles are lit.
