A Chinese-born Australian businessman has been detained in southern China on suspicion of embezzlement.

Matthew Ng is the CEO of a tourism company, Et-China. It’s in a commercial dispute with a state-owned company in the city of Guangzhou, over control of a lucrative travel business.

Mr. Ng was arrested on November 16th. He’s currently in prison, but has not been formally charged.

The Australian government says it is closely monitoring the case to ensure due legal process if followed.
