Mourinho brushes off worst defeat of career

A defiant Jose Mourinho has brushed off Real Madrid's crushing 5-0 defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Barcelona.

The flamboyant Portuguese, a former assistant coach at Barca who managed Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan before going to Real, suffered his worst defeat in a league match at the hands of La Liga champions.

But he told a news conference afterwards: "Humiliation? No. Why? It is the biggest defeat of my career. I had never lost by 5-0. That is right, no doubt about it.

"But it is an easy to digest defeat, very easy to digest. Because it is a defeat with no chances to win.

"It isn't the type of defeat that leaves you with the taste of a difficult thing to accept because you didn't deserve to lose and you lost. Or because of a bad decision taken by the referee, or because two or three balls hit the bar without entering the net and because of bad luck you lost the match.

"No, it is nothing like that. It is a very easy match to comment on. A team played to the maximum of its potential while the other team played very badly and the result, with more or less goals, doesn't change absolutely anything. It is a very well deserved victory and a very well deserved defeat."
