Garments industry strike work due to high cotton yarn prices

Textile manufacturers and exporters across India struck work on Friday to protest against the rising price of yarn. Due to large scale exports of cotton yarn, domestic yarn prices have spiked up, by more than 85 per cent. The cost of fabric production has gone up more than 30 percent leading to Indian textiles losing their competitive edge, leading many industries shutting down.
