Eva Longoria's husband, Tony Parker, has spoken for the first time since they jointly announced via Twitter that they were getting divorced.
In a statement released by his representative, the 28-year-old basketball player said:
"Eva and I have been discussing our situation privately... I was aware that she would be filing for divorce in Los Angeles.
"I did not file for divorce in Texas and did not hire divorce attorneys in either Texas or California... We plan to continue to keep our discussion of this matter private."
35-year-old Eva filed for divorce on Wednesday following reports that Tony sent hundreds of 'sex texts' to a lady called Erin Barry, who is estranged from her husband Brent Barry, a former basketball teammate of Tony's.
Meanwhle E! News claim they have spoken to Brent's father, Rick Barry, who said: "I have no idea what happened, and if it's true I feel sorry for my son."
He added: "It's my son's life. He can speak for himself."
According to celebrity website TMZ, Tony Parker has acknowledged that he had a 'sexting relationship' with Erin Barry but insiders say the flirtation ended months ago and that they never had a physical relationship.
Tony and Eva married in Paris in July 2007.
