Preaching to the Choir

The Church of God in Christ, a predominately African American denomination, held its 103rd Holy Convocation in St Louis this November, a departure from its usual Memphis location. 50,000 were expected to attend.

The Convocation was held a few blocks from the old St Louis Courthouse, the Dred Scott Museum, where in 1856 Dred Scott was denied his humanity, legalizing the enslavement of all African American People.

On the 2nd floor of this building is a painting of “The last sale of the slaves.” It pictures a mother and child being sold on the very steps of that building. I wondered why the auction occurred there.

We believe it was partly to give the public a sense of proprietary, a sense of moral turpitude, and rightness. It was done in front of God and everybody.
The police, the sheriff, the judges, and most American people looked on and did nothing!

The infamous 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision similarly denies the humanity of pre-born children.
