The American author Toni Morrison, known for her poetic novels featuring strong black characters, has been honoured with France's highest decoration, the Legion of Honour, in a ceremony which saw her praised as embodying "the best part of America". The award, presented by culture minister Frederic Mitterrand, adds to an impressive collection for the novelist, whose career has already seen her awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature.Duration: 01:18
