Activists in South Korea hold a rally to support the success of the upcoming G20 summit in November. They say hosting the summit is cause for national celebration.

South Korean activists hold a rally on Wednesday to support the upcoming G20 summit.

Leaders from 20 major countries are planning to discuss issues of global and regional economies at the G20, which gets underway next month.

The activists say the summit is a global event marking South Korea as the center of the major economies.

[Bong Tae-hong, Rally Leader]:
"Being the chair country and hosting the G20 summit is cause for a national celebration. Therefore, we're here to wish for the success of the G20 on behalf of all Koreans."

The summit will involve ten thousand participants and 32 heads of state.

South Korea will host this week's meetings of finance ministers and central bank governors from the 20 major economies.

Economic imbalances, the falling dollar and upward pressure on emerging market currencies are sure to dominate discussions between finance ministers from Oct. 22 and national leaders from Nov. 11.
