X Factor's Gamu Nhengu has spoken out for the first time over fears she may be shot if she is deported to Zimbabwe, after the Home Office refused to renew a visa to allow her to stay in the UK.
The viewer's favourite begged X Factor judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole to help her saying, "If I hadn't been on the show everything would be fine."
The teen singer believes that a firing squad are waiting for her and her family in the African country.
Speaking of her regrets over appearing in the talent contest, Gamu added, "I've been in the public eye now and people there know I've fled Mugabe's regime. They will punish us if we go back. They're going to know where we are.
We're going to be very unsafe. People have already been approaching our family members.
I would be in danger, it's blatantly obvious. My family would be in danger."
Gamu was not put through to the live finals of X Factor after Cheryl Cole failed to select her in the top three girls, choosing instead Cher Lloyd, Katie Vaissel and Rebecca Ferguson.
More than 250,000 Facebook fans signed a petition to get Gamu back on last night's show as a wildcard entry but Cheryl Cole chose to bring back former call centre worker Treyc Cohen.
