Malaysians from all ethnicities celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival in Kuala Lumpur.
Fireworks and celebrations in Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown for Malaysia's Mid Autumn Festival.
Also known as the Moon Festival, the annual harvest fair is a time for the multi-ethnic country to unite.
In addition to the colorful street parades, a favorite with festival-goers, are mooncakes.
And gifts are also handed out to participants.
[Simon Vkneesan, FM Radio Special Event Coordinator]:
"When we are giving out we don't see Chinese, Indians or Malays, we just give out to all the races so just to create the awareness that everybody in Malaysia can celebrate this festival."
[Lam Meng Kiat, Stall Manager]:
"A lot of people support traditional things, support our cultures. Now friends from other ethnic groups also support our customs; this will result in the increase of sales volume."
The Malaysian Chinese community makes up about 25 percent of the population.
And the Mid Autumn Festival is one of the most important on the Chinese calendar, dating back around 3,000 years.
