Another melamine food-safety scandal in China. Authorities in Shanxi province have arrested 7 people suspected of producing 26 tons of melamine-tainted milk powder.

One of the arrested, Wang Zhigang is the general manager of Jinfulai Dairy Company, which produced and sold the tainted dairy product throughout China and overseas.

If Wang and the others are charged with food safety crimes they could face the death penalty.

Melamine is a toxic chemical used in plastics production, but it's also high in nitrogen and has been used by some dairy producers in China to fool protein content test.
